Description of the Project

Executed a significant project centered on the feasibility study of Common Border Markets along Balochistan's Pak-Afghan and Pak-Iran borders. This project scope consists of a comprehensive feasibility assessment of six Common Border Markets strategically located along the Pak-Afghan and Pak-Iran borders within Balochistan. These markets are potential catalysts for enhancing trade, collaboration, and economic cooperation among neighboring nations. Conducted an in-depth analysis of each proposed Common Border Market location. This included evaluating the strategic significance of these markets in facilitating cross-border trade and identifying their potential economic impact, Market Demand and Opportunities: trade potential and opportunities that these. Conducted a comprehensive feasibility study that provides valuable insights into establishing Common Border Markets in Balochistan. This study offers data-driven assessments of economic, infrastructural, regulatory, and socio-cultural dimensions, facilitating informed decision-making for increasing trade and collaboration across borders.

Scope of the Project

Scope of work includes:

1. The Government of Balochistan needs a competent firm/consultant to conduct a feasibility study. The firm is expected to undertake a comprehensive feasibility study and develop a detailed implementation plan with a detailed roadmap covering the legislative angle, as required. The terms of reference for the firm/consultant are as follows, which should broadly cover, but not be limited to, the following essential components:

2. Assess the infrastructure needs for establishing common border markets

.Develop a plan of action for each productive sector that could be part of those markets. Identify the raw materials and commodities that can be traded in the formal border markets.

4. Undertake an analysis of existing trade volume and the potential of new trade avenues

5. Conduct a skill assessment of the trading community in the area and the need for new skills

6. Design the rules of business for the new border markets

7. Develop the regulatory framework for the government for new border markets

8. Forecast the revenue generation for the government of Balochistan from those markets

9. Design a plan to connect border markets to mainland markets. Come up with a five-year plan for running common markets

10. Design the terms of trade with Afghanistan and Iran for common border markets​
